The 14th edition and first virtual edition of the Headies award took place on February 21, with several guests adhering to CO-VID 19 protocols by wearing face masks and observing social distance.
A lot of the show had been pre-recorded and the live event, featuring nominees held at Eko Hotels and Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos.
The red carpet began at 5pm while the main event commenced at 8 pm. The show was hosted by comedian Bovi and actress and TV host, Nancy Isime and witnessed brilliant performances from the likes of Chike, Fireboy, Joeboy and Laycon.
Fireboy DML, the biggest winner of the night, walked away with four awards, including the Best Pop Album, Best R&B Album, Headies Revelation and Best R&B Single trophies. Wizkid won the coveted Artist of the Year accolade. The musician, alongside Simi and DJ Neptune, received two awards apiece.
Other winners on the night included Bad Boy Timz who won the Rookie of the Year trophy, Omah Lay for the Next Rated Act and South Africa’s Master KG who picked up the African Artist recognition accolade.
