Berlin based duo Re.decay recently released their “Way Out East” album on 28th Jan via RDK Records.
The LP brings together artists from all corners of the globe including Ghana, Senegal, Nigeria, US, Canada, Korea and more. Taking influence from Dr Dre, Little Dragon, Anderson Paak, Mac Miller, Kendrick Lamar, Madlib and others, Re.decay have honed a unique production sound of raw hip-hop, soulful house and smooth R&B. Lead collab artist Shekhinah has built a huge and loyal following with her soul driven artistry. She’s collabed with South Africa‘s biggest hitmakers including Black Coffee whilst releasing critically acclaimed albums Trouble In Paradise (2021) and Rose Gold (2017), establishing herself as an important voice on the South Africa’s R&B scene.
With so many artists and producers left hungry to collab and reconnect with peers during the pandemic, the album was a cathartic process for all involved (Ché Noir, Tinúké, K. Marie Kim, Mawcom X + more) and a relief from the isolation the world was enduring. Creating intercontinental artistic relationships, it displays multiple music cultures colliding and creating lasting bonds for Re.decay to build upon in the years to come.
