Afrobeat Legacy: Seun Kuti & Egypt 80’s feature POS on "Stand Well Well (Grand Stand Version)"

Afrobeat legatee, Seun Kuti the great, continues to lift the torch handed over to him by his legendary father, Fela Anikulapo Kuti as he extends his family’s illustrious legacy with the pace setting ‘Grand Stand Version’ of his album single, “Stand Well Well”.

“Stand Well Well” is a track off his 6th full length studio album, ‘Heavier Yet (Lays The Crownless Head)’. The refixed ‘Grand Stand Version’ of the song features the trusted musicianship of POS, a member of the legendary hip-hop group De La Soul. POS offers a vibrant, socially conscious perspective to the track, thereby boosting its credentials as one of the most scintillating afrobeat collaboration.

Drawn between the relaxed style of spoken word and intricate rhyming, Seun Kuti invites fans and listeners to draw parallels between the cadence of traditional Afrobeat and modern day hip-hop artistry. “No carry me go, anywhere I no know,” he sings, in carefree reprimand, setting the stage for a playful yet implicitly consequential use of pidgin English which offers a dual African/American perspective to the POS-featured song.
