Afrobeats superstar, Davido returns with a genre-blending 6th studio album, “ORIADE”, which offers a sincere reflection on destiny whilst paying tribute to his illustrious journey, with postulations on future aspirations.
The album title, “ORIADE” is a portmanteau of two Yoruba words, “ori” (head, destiny) and “adé” (crown) which loosely translates to the “glorious head” or “the head that fits the crown”, a conscious recognition of the path that destiny has taken him on, from the early days of his debut album, ‘O.B.O: The Genesis’, to his globally acclaimed sophomore, ‘A Good Time’ to his star-studded follow up, ‘A Better Time’, his critically acclaimed border defying, chart topping and stream record breaking Grammy-nominated album, ‘Timeless’ to his high grossing world tour inspiring album, ‘5ive’. The journey has indeed been remarkable and this 13-track offering is a stellar addition to his laurels with its distinct blend of Afrobeats, Afro-house, Makossa, R&B, and dance-floor focused songs that cut cross themes of family, love, self awareness, lifestyle, success, and gratitude.
Produced by a diverse array of producers, the album features Black Sherif, JazzworLd, GL Ceejay, No11, Mayorkun, FOLA, Leon Thomas, Aya Nakamura, and Llona with each artist bringing his or her own unique style to deliver a fervorous rendition of lyricism, flow and tact that effortlessly matches the album’s sound and direction. From start to finish, the album captivates the listener’s rapt attention with its no-skip sonicality, setting itself apart as an effervescent body of work with potentials of becoming a fan favorite.
