Rising sensation, Ghanaian-American songstress Moliy, has released her mini-EP “Mahogany St.”, ahead of her full EP ‘Honey Doom’, coming Fall 2022.
Named for the street where she grew up in Accra, Ghana, the three-track release is here to get you warmed up for summer, with straight vibes to keep you moving. The first upbeat reggae-tinged track “9-5”, in which Moliy passionately affirms her path, comes with brightly colored, authentic visuals of the singer in her beloved city of Accra. The second track is “Taken”, a romantic ballad where Moliy croons softly about her love over an airy beat. The final track, “Shake It” demands the listener to move, “shake it for me, shake ya body, go down for me”, just in time for dancing real close, anticipating the upcoming sweaty summer nights.
And this is only the beginning — the further Moliy goes, she’s hoping to open more doors for other women in music throughout her native country of Ghana. “They need to know there is no limit to what we can achieve, regardless of our background”, Moliy says. “I would love for all women to feel confident and empowered, even on the saddest and hardest of days”.
